Tabs for IE6
When I read a news article over at Google claiming that the MSN Search Toolbar would add tabbed browsing functionality to Internet Explorer 6, I just had to try it. It was a severely disapointing experience and the toolbar was promptly uninstalled. It felt like a half assed attempt to keep up with every other browser on the market that already offers this functionality. Perhaps me being used to tabbed browsing in Firefox made the experience unpleasant, but opening and closing tabs caused the window to flicker. When I pressed Ctrl+W to close a tab, it closed the whole window without warning me. You can’t even hide the toolbar without losing the tabbed functionality. As if it’s only job was to completely disappoint me, I was forced to restart after uninstalling the toolbar. Let’s hope Microsoft gets things right in IE7.

So I guess I’m going to have to make the leap to XP huh? :sniff: I always wondered how long I could go using Win2k. Seems like 2005 is the year to shake things up :-/

Why did you mention Tabs for IE 6 when IE6 is going to die…Sometime in the next 2 months IE 7 is coming out and will have tabs. But will also be secure as firefox..Pfft but were talking about a microsoft product..and get your white texan butt on AIM now and then buster..Have not spoken to you in months.
on June 13th, 2005 at 6:48 am
Tabs will be available in IE7..I am more of an interface GUI guy..I like the Look..screw the security lol…As for SP2 works great on Fresh Systems that were just formatted or a Brand New PC that is being built. But for PCs that have been running longer then 3months..Do not use it. It patches allot of holes and stops allot of current programs from running. Tho I heard there has been several SP2 updates that fixed many of those issues. The only great thing Microsoft has in Beta right now is Microsoft Antispyware…Mmm I love it..But since it is Beta I still use the New Adaware and BRAND NEW GUI of Spybot mmm..Yeah..ok shutting up now.

He was reviewing tabs for IE6 in case someone was thinking about downloading them for internet explorer before IE7 came out. And do you really expect IE7 to come out in the next two months? I’m guessing it’ll probably get delayed because of some bug or something.
on June 15th, 2005 at 3:55 am
Yeah 2 to 3 months Brody..I been part of the Alpha testing group testing out the new IE but right now it is I belive finally in version 0.8 (alpha)right now. But when it is released in a couple months it will be Beta I think before it become an actual browser fro everyone. I been working with others who work with Dean Edwards who has really been improving some of the features you will see. I am not sure how Dean Edwards is tied with microsoft. Or how he got ahold of the code..But he is sending small samples out for people to test so you can basically patch your current IE out..Eh just allot of reading to do..But your right it will probably be delayed..They should of Delayed SP2 but they rushed that out..So they might rush IE7 out as well..frankly IE7 has been LONG overdue..all because microsoft is working on the paid version of MSN Explore..which is all GUI in my opinion.

Haha, ok Mike, you can quit acting like you know what you’re talking about now. Dean Edwards isn’t affiliated with Microsoft. His version of IE7 isn’t a standalone browser, and you have to be a web developer to even use it. Basically, Dean Edward’s IE7 is a bunch of javascript that fixes CSS rendering issues in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 so that you don’t have to use hacks.
on June 15th, 2005 at 7:27 pm
Brady I never said Dean Edwards was with Microsoft…I said and I quote..since some people think they can be smartasses and accuse without quoting “I am not sure how Dean Edwards is tied with microsoft. Or how he got ahold of the code” Never once does it mention that he is..I said I am not sure how he is tied to them. SECOND anyone can be part of testing. It is available to anyone HENCE it being part of sourceforge. So nice try there of making a statement you got to be a web developer..anyone with brains can use it. Now since you decided to trash my knowledge and my college skills…Unlike someone who could not even pick a major and kept changing their intrest…I shall trash your knowledge…Stop pretending your a web develper and start going to SAU so you can better trash talk people on your blogs. I will let your smart mind figure out the meaning of SA…
DAMN that felt great to bitch at you..You have not been online in ages and it sucks not talking to you and you always correcting my grammar and my sense of knowledge..Ahhh but the Blog is here for that. Anyhoot since Mike does not know shit about the PC world I will go hit the books again..I assume the 4years in college and my assocites degree in Electronics and Computer Technology does not make me smart enough to talk about Microsoft yet…But give me a break..name 1 man who is smart..and works for microsoft…….And if you name someone..then well..Errm well..Let’s just say Microsoft must not have him working much or else they would not need all these patches. Ciao…and Nothing I said today was meant to hurt your feelings..Backing my statement up as all since you are the accuser. Ciao

Ah yeah and “But he is sending small samples out for people to test so you can basically patch your current IE out” Thus making your statement on me saying it was a full browser false. Ahh gotta love quotes…Next time edit my post lmao

And before you go getting me back..Yes I did allot of spelling mistakes..But I have always been bad in english you know that..So Note to myself..Proof read before pressing submit comment..But hey at least I can spell Knees correctly now.
on June 15th, 2005 at 11:31 pm
Wait, are you saying that you have to go to college to be knowledgeable?!?! And are you saying it took you four years to get an Associate’s Degree? Is SAU supposed to be Smart Ass University? Because if so, that would be a a University for smart donkeys. Maybe you meant SU which would be Smartass University? Then again I could be entirely wrong on your meaning of SAU.
These are just a few questions I have about your response(s). If you could get back to me, that would be great!

You need to step back and re-evaluate the situation. You said I shouldn’t write about IE6 in my own blog. Brody said I could write about whatever I wanted and you jumped on him, stating whatever information you could find for a Google search for Internet Explorer 7 or IE7.
It is NOT the new IE, it’s not even affiliated with Microsoft, but you claimed it was the new IE, implying that it was a stand alone browser.
Dean Edwards does not have the Microsoft Internet Explorer code. If you had been a “beta tester” for 2 to 3 months you would know a little more about the project. The project is a bunch of javascript that a web developer includes in the code of a website so that various bugs in IE render correctly. There is a favelet, but the only good it does is for sites that purposefully do not fix the bugs for IE. You can’t test out the features of Dean Edward’s IE7 without being a web developer.
See what I previously said about using IE7 and in what environment it is useful. And just because it’s in sourcefourge, that doesn’t make it useful to everyone, so that association is misguided.
I haven’t graduated college. So what, who cares? I obviously don’t need it to call your bluffs and keep you on your heels. Oh, and where’s the quote that you said I needed to be a smartass? The one where I specifically trashed your “college skills”? And I don’t need a college degree to be a web developer, so I’m not pretending. I’ve developed multiple sites, for many different people, and my current job classifies me as a Developer, doing web work. You figure out what that means.
I know for a fact that you haven’t been in college for 4 years and it only takes 2 years to get an associate’s degree. I don’t know where you get the idea that going to college somehow gives you the credibility to talk about IE7 without knowing the facts.
Nice try Mike, but even this “pretend” web developer knows more than you.

Trust me I can sit here explaing all of it. But it makes it so you can come back with more answers..Quick reply to Brody……and you….4years total not in 1 college.. 2 different college classes…PC Repair was 2years…and ECT for Asso..was 2years total 4years. And I do not care if you do not finish college..you have always been smarter then me. You never needed college..I been telling you for the past 5years or however long we have known eachother that your the smart one and always smarter then me..And do not think I forgot that your the one that improved my english. I never once god mad at you for correcting my spelling…If anything I owe you for it because it has made me a better person..Hell when we spoke online several months ago you commented on how scary it was that I am typing so much correctly…For instance the word grammar. which for ages I thought was grammer….you even taught we how to spell knees..which for ages I thought was nees…and lord knows how ever many other ways I spelled it..Hell you got solid proof how bad I am with spelling. So trust me it is not my intention to bash you on your own blog..nor tell you that your not allowed to cover certain things. It’s free speech. And frankly I think in the years I have known you this is the first argument we have gotten into. Which on my end will be the last. Sorry for being the asshole..I have known you for a long time. And I should be treating you better then I have. But trust me like you stick up for your work and your knowledge and profession..I stick up for mind..pisses me off big time when people accuse me of not knowing my profession when I know it damn well as good as anyone else knows theirs. And for the IE7 deal yeah allot was found on google 1 to 2 months ago thats how I got into the deal..and if you read the forms for the longest time you had to email dean personally for a link to download some sort of IE bullshit..not sure what it was but when he emailed me back he said that version of 07 was over with and 08 was out. And yes I know it is patches to fix image issues..and CSS and RSS issues for blogs and other feeds. And it took and outside coder from microsoft to fix things. But I am dropping all this in this last post..will not speak of it again or comment anymore. hell got in enough trouble on your forms.

Again I need to proof read before pressing comment..That was full of mistakes. English is so not my first language
